Today I want to share an interesting conversation I had with Michaela Morrell of Food Changes Lives.
I actually met Michaela in a women’s podcasting group and was immediately drawn to speak to her because I am also very interested in health and nutrition and knew I had to subscribe. But what drew me to her most was her own mission.
Like myself, Michaela is on a mission of awareness based off her personal experience. Her knowledge is extensive and impressive - But I love that she has set out to just have the conversations about how the medical industry can grow and change to make this information accessible to everyone. Much like we do in this forum.
I mentioned to her how we often throw around the idea of healing in our world, without really giving many real world implementations of what that means. I know for myself, my array of health issues initially only had me only thinking about the external. We see folks with spots, lines, ridges, brittleness, etc, and often these are signs of an internal health issue, not always external. And when my own health improved, I saw my nails improve greatly.
Michaela’s own health journey is a fascinating one, but we really only just touch on that. Truly we ended up talking for hours - but for the sake of this episode I did edit our chat down to some key and a little more basic takeaways.
This conversation truly only scratches the surface. If you are interested in exploring this area of your health more please check out her podcast and website, all linked below.
Here are a few takeaways:
You are your best advocate when it comes to exploring your own health. Come to the doctor with knowledge about what you think is going on. We give you lots of ideas on the nail front but consider your deeper health as well if you notice other things going on.
It all comes down to gut health. My cabinet full of supplements at all their different levels might actually only be working 10% of the time depending on my own gut health. It has made me think of how I spend on these items and where my vitamins come from.
Just in the same way we want to find out where our products come from, the same goes for supplements. I know many of you have had success by taking supplements, but understand where they come from, are they synthetic? The best bet is getting it straight from the source, which is healthy whole foods.
